Two Binghamton Parcels to be Sold in February

ALBANY, NY (01/30/2008; 1138)(readMedia)-- The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will hold a public auction on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, to sell two surplus parcels totaling less than one acre in the City of Binghamton. The auction will be held at the State Office Building, 44 Hawley Street, 10th Floor, Room 1005, Binghamton, New York. Bidder registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the auction to follow at 10:30 a.m.

There is no access to either parcel other than from privately-owned adjoining parcels. Properties being sold to the highest qualified bidders include:

• Property 381 -- 0.40± acres located 266± feet east of S. Washington Street, 165± feet south of Conklin Avenue and north of Route 17 Arterial Highway in Binghamton. The deposit for bid submission is $3,780, and the minimum bid is $37,800; and

The auction is part of a NYSDOT marketing program initiated in 1984 to return surplus properties to the tax rolls. State legislation calls for proceeds from the sale to be divided between NYSDOT transportation maintenance programs and the State Environmental Protection Fund. To register, bidders must present a certified or bank check for the amount of the deposit required on the property for which they intend to bid. The balance of the bid amount will be due at the property closing.

Prospective bidders may obtain more information by contacting the Real Estate Group in NYSDOT’s regional office in Binghamton at (607) 721-8050.
