National Guard Engineers To Improve Town Park in Wheatfield

WHEATFIELD, NY (07/10/2008; 1537)(readMedia)-- The New York Army National Guard's 152nd Engineer Support Company will use part of their 2008 Annual Training period to prepare land at Mario Park in Wheatfield, Niagara County, for the construction of two new parking lots.

WHO: Forty-five members of the New York Army National Guard's 152nd Engineer Support Company, based in Buffalo's Connecticut Street Armory.

WHAT: The engineers will conduct debris removal, compaction, and limited excavation to create a base for two 75-car parking lots at the town of Wheatfield's Mario Park, a 12-acre park with a soccer field, baseball fields, and tennis courts. The Soldiers will be doing this basic engineering work as part of their 14 days of annual training for 2008.

WHEN: Soldiers will be at work on the project from 12 to 18 July, 2008.

WHERE: Deborah Lane, Wheatfield, Niagara County.

BACKGROUND:

152nd Engineer Support Company:

The 152nd Engineer Support Company is one of the elements of the 204th Engineer Battalion, headquartered in Binghamton, conducting its annual training from July 12 to August 1. Approximately 400 members of the battalion will be training at Fort Drum, while others conduct

engineering projects in local communities near their home armories.

The 152nd Engineer Support Company provides general engineering support to Army combat maneuver units.
