During the Civil War it became Company A of the 14th Regiment New York State Volunteers.
Following the Civil War the Company became the 44th Separate Infantry Company and served during the Spanish American War.
In World War I the unit became part of the 27th Infantry Division and served in Europe. In World War II the unit served again under the 27th Inf. Div. in the Pacific. Following the Second World War in 1948 the unit became part of the 336th Anti Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion.
