New York State awards $11.5 Million contract towards Queensbury Soldier Readiness Center construction

LATHAM, NY (09/26/2007; 1035)(readMedia)-- The New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs and Office of General Services has announced awarding three Albany area businesses contracts totaling $11.5 million for construction of a new 45,000 Sq. Ft. Army National Guard Soldier Readiness Center slated to be built in Queensbury, NY.

Bunkoff General Contractors, Inc., Latham, N.Y. was granted the $8,766,800 construction contract.

John V. Warren, Inc., a Rensselaer company, was awarded the $1,395,300 heating, ventilation and air conditioning contract. The company was also awarded the $439,900 plumbing contract.

Schenectady Hardware and Electric, Co. Inc received the $913, 238 electrical component contract.

Construction should commence in November, with a completion date projected to be June, 2009.

This building will function as a New York National Guard training facility near Glens Falls. The site is positioned on 14 acres of land located in a future light industrial technical park being marketed by the Warren County Economic Development Corporation.

The Readiness Center will provide administrative, training and supply space for the 466th Area Medical Company and the 1427th Transportation Company which collectively consists of approximately 150 New York Army National Guard Soldiers. Funding for the center is part of the 2007 Future Year Defense Plan.

The plan will include a kitchen, an assembly hall, several classrooms, offices, locker rooms, and supply and maintenance areas. It will also have the ability to operate on emergency generator power should the need arise.

Additionally, a 16,000 Sq. Ft. Field Maintenance Shop is under design for this location and is expected to be awarded in 2009.
