Niagara Air Base Host Employers on Flights

New York Air National Guard and Air Force ReserveThank Troop's Employers

NIAGARA FALLS NY (08/08/2008; 1436)(readMedia)-- Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station hosted more than 200 employers for "Bosses' Day," August 8, 2008 to reach out to civilian employers of Air Force Reservists and New York Air National Guardsmen stationed here. This is the first Associated Bosses Day for Team Niagara.

"This is the first opportunity for us to demonstrate to our members' employers the new association and the building of Team Niagara for a strong future," stated Col. Reinhard Schmidt, 914th Airlift Wing Commander, Air Force Reserve.

Airmen assigned here accompanied their bosses through demonstrations of military operational activities to familiarize their civilian employers with their military duties and responsibilities. Employers also had the opportunity to board one of the base's C-130 aircraft to fly on a local orientation flight. These flights were piloted by both reservists and guardsmen.

"This is a unique opportunity for our guardsmen to show their employers our new mission, "said Col. Patrick Ginavan, 107th Airlift Wing Commander, New York Air National Guard.

This event was co-sponsored by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense organization that serves as liaison between Guard and Reserve troops and their civilian employers.

Both commanders invited employers to this event to foster understanding, support and cooperation between military members and their civilian employers.

More than 300 employers and ESGR community guests attended this event.

Approximately 2000 airmen are assigned to the AFR and ANG units on Niagara Falls ARS.
