Title: Provide Building and Site Improvements

Project Description: The NYS Office of General Services Design and Construction Group on behalf of NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) intends to contract with a design consultant firm(s) for the following project: Provide Five Rivers Environmental Education Center and Site Improvements which includes a new 9,500 SF single story frame structure that fits within the architectural and site context of the surrounding community. The project will comply with NYS Executive Order 111 and achieve LEED Silver accreditation rating from the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and will require commissioning. Sustainable innovative green design will be emphasized for both building and grounds and incorporated in ways that provide visitors with observable (and preferably interactive) learning experiences. Geothermal heating/cooling preferred. Scope of services will include coordination of all pertinent environmental permitting and compliance with current NYS building code and ADA requirements. Conductivity tests, lead asbestos reports, topographic survey, foundation and geotechnical testing and reports are available. Demolition of existing buildings is required. Visitor parking to be reconstructed and expanded, entry road to be relocated, storm water management, site walkways, lighting, signage, plant design work required. Schematic Phase, 35% Construction Document Interim Submission, 100% Construction Documents, Bid and award and Construction Phase services will be required. Ongoing operations will be maintained at all times. Five Rivers Environmental Education Center operates under a State Unit Management Plan (UMP) which will be used as guidance in design work. The design process will proactively seek involvement from environmental education stakeholders who will be encouraged to articulate program goals and how the building will function within the total learning experience for visitors of Five Rivers and within the intentions of the UMP. The anticipated construction cost for this project is approximately $5,000,000.

Title: Provide Catskill Visitors Interpretive Center

Project Description: The NYS Office of General Services Design and Construction Group on behalf of NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) intends to contract with a design consultant firm(s) for the following project: Provide Catskill Visitors Interpretive Center which includes a new 18,000 sf single story steel/heavy timber framed wood exterior construction and associated site work. The building is to be constructed at the Rte. 28 NYSDEC Mt.Tremper site that has been prepared to receive the new building. A design for this project was advanced to the 80% level approximately ten years ago. These drawings shall be used to the maximum practical extent in the new design. The project will comply with NYS Executive Order 111 and achieve LEED Silver certification rating from the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and be commissioned. Sustainable innovative green design will be emphasized and highlighted through interpretive displays. Geothermal heating/cooling preferred. The project must be ADA compliant. The scope of services may include coordination of all pertinent environmental permitting and current code requirements, topographic survey, soils, foundation and conductivity test reports. Program Report, 35% Construction Document Interim Submission and 100% Construction Documents, Bid and Construction Phase Services will be required. Historic, cultural, environmental, and archeologic interpretive exhibits shall be provided and interpretive, educational and informational functions supported. An approximately 10 year old interpretive plan shall be provided as a starting point and for information purposes. The anticipated construction cost for this project is approximately $10,000,000.
