OGS Announces Upcoming Construction and Consulting Opportunities

ALBANY, NY (03/20/2008; 1203)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the bidding for 15 construction contracts representing more than $5.3 MILLION in construction, providing work in eight counties of New York.

Title: Provide Construction Management Services - Rehabilitate Plaza Deck & Parking Garage, Adam C. Powell State Office Building, New York, NY

Project Description: The New York State Office of General Services Design & Construction Group is seeking letters of interest from construction management firms to oversee the rehabilitation of the plaza deck and parking garage at the Adam C. Powell State Office Building in New York, NY. The Adam C. Powell State Office Building is a 19 story office building, with a street level plaza over storage rooms and a one-story 118-car parking garage. The parking level is partly a framed concrete slab-on-grade and partly a framed slab over sub-cellar storage rooms. The garage ceiling/plaza deck is primarily a concrete waffle slab. The complex was completed in 1972. The plaza was rehabilitated 1989, the sidewalk was repaired in 1978 and garage wall cracks were repaired in 1992. Water intrusion has caused has areas of spalling and delamination to the garage floor, deterioration of expansion joints and exposed reinforcing in some areas. The anticipated total construction cost of the project is approximately $9,000,000.Construction management services may include constructability review, cost projections and review, value engineering, bid-document review, full time on site field supervision including CPM scheduler, project manager, project engineer, MEP and construction superintendents/inspectors. The planning design and construction work may need to be phased. This will be a multi-contract project.

The OGS Design and Construction Group provide a full range of architectural, engineering and construction management services to state agencies.

The OGS Design and Construction Group also selects qualified consultants to provide diversified services. These services may include: architectural and engineering design, land surveying, construction management, hazardous materials sampling, and materials testing.

The Office of General Services requires the participation of Minority and Women-Owned Businesses in its procurements. Accordingly, the Commissioner of General Services requires that Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs) and minority and women employees are given the opportunity to participate in the OGS procurement and construction programs.
