OGS Announces Upcoming Construction and Consulting Opportunities

ALBANY, NY (10/03/2007; 1212)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the bidding for eight construction contracts representing more than $2.7 MILLION in construction, providing work in three counties of New York.

Title - Statewide Security Standards - Various OMH Facilities

Project Description

It is the intent of the Office of General Services Design and Construction Group to have a consultant provide appurtenant Engineering and Architectural design work for the implementation of existing Security Standards for the Office of Mental Health (OMH) throughout State Psychiatric Centers; investigate and modify Security Standards as required; coordinate, attend, and discuss security recommendations at OMH steering committee meetings; review and update existing security inspection and maintenance programs; all as directed by the OGS. The selected Consultant should have extensive design, contract document development and direct field experience (application, maintenance and installation) with State-of-the-Art Security System Technology including CCTV, Card Access, Personal Alarm and other Security related Systems in Psychiatric Healthcare Facilities. The selected Consultant shall have extensive experience with Integrated Facility Security Systems and Networked Systems.

OGS offers numerous services to clients throughout the Empire State, including property management, design and construction, procurement, and various support services. The OGS Design and Construction Group provide a full range of architectural, engineering and construction management services to state agencies.

The OGS Design and Construction Group also selects qualified consultants to provide diversified services. These services may include: architectural and engineering design, land surveying, construction management, hazardous materials sampling, and materials testing.

The Office of General Services requires the participation of Minority and Women-Owned Businesses in its procurements. Accordingly, the Commissioner of General Services requires that Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs) and minority and women employees are given the opportunity to participate in the OGS procurement and construction programs.
