ALBANY, NY (02/28/2008; 1337)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the bidding for seven construction contracts representing more than $3.2 MILLION in construction, providing work in five counties of New York.

Project Description: The New York State Office of General Services Design and Construction Group (D&C), on behalf of the New York State Department of Correctional Services, is seeking Letters of Interest from qualified construction management firms to oversee both of the following projects, which are anticipated to start concurrently:• A new central warehouse and pharmacy building in proximity to Marcy, NY. The estimated construction cost is $18,000,000.• Renovation of C and E wings, and construction of a new wing at the Walsh Medical RMU in proximity to Rome, NY. The estimated construction cost is $21,000,000.Construction management services may include constructability review, cost projections and review, value engineering, bid-document review, schedulers, superintendents, inspectors and project management.
The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) provides a broad range of support services that facilitate the operations of State government, and assists local governments, public authorities, public and private agencies. OGS offers numerous services to clients throughout the Empire State, including property management, design and construction, procurement, and various support services.
The OGS Design and Construction Group provide a full range of architectural, engineering and construction management services to state agencies.
The OGS Design and Construction Group also selects qualified consultants to provide diversified services. These services may include: architectural and engineering design, land surveying, construction management, hazardous materials sampling, and materials testing.
The Office of General Services requires the participation of Minority and Women-Owned Businesses in its procurements. Accordingly, the Commissioner of General Services requires that Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs) and minority and women employees are given the opportunity to participate in the OGS procurement and construction programs.
