OGS To Award Over $10.6 Million In New Construction Contracts

Work to Commence in Eight New York Counties

ALBANY, NY (02/28/2008; 1332)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the awarding of bids for 15 contracts representing more than $10.6 MILLION in new construction, providing work in eight counties of New York.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

ALBANY COUNTY

Construction, electrical, and heating & ventilation contracts were bid to renovate hearing rooms a, b and c at the Legislative Office Building in Albany, NY.

Construction: Bunkoff General Contractors, Inc. of Latham, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $3,126,000.

Electrical: O'Connell Electric Company of Victor, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $2,282,850.

Heating and Ventilation: VBI, LLC of Scotia, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $116,747.

A construction contract to repair marble facade at the Education Building Addition in Albany, NY was bid by eight firms. Of those eight, DeBrino Caulking Assoc., Inc. of Castleton, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $379,892.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY

Construction and electrical contracts were bid to replace the ceiling in the kitchen area of Building No. 12 at the Lakeview Correctional Facility in Brocton, NY.

Construction: Dommer Construction Corp. of Lancaster, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $114,300.

Electrical: O'Connell Electric Company of Victor, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $35,000.

CHEMUNG COUNTY

A construction contract to replace windows, at Building No. 21 at the Elmira Correctional Facility in Elmira, NY was bid by four firms. Of those four, N.E.P. Glass Co., Ltd. of Little Falls, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $771,154.

ERIE COUNTY

A construction contract to provide masonry rehabilitation at Building Nos. 10 and 14 at the Wende Correctional Facility in Alden, NY was bid by eight firms. Of those eight, Alliance Contracting, LLC of Cowlesville, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $272,000.

GENESEE COUNTY

Electrical and heating & ventilation contracts were bid to provide emergency generator at the New York State School for the Blind in Batavia, NY.

Electrical: Billitier Electric Inc. of Rochester, NY was the apparent low bidder out of nine firms. The low bid was $207,000.

Heating and Ventilation: John W. Danforth Company of Tonawanda, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $32,700.

ONEIDA COUNTY

A construction contract to replace windows, at Building Nos. 1, 2, 6 & 7 at the Oneida Correctional Facility in Rome, NY was bid by five firms. Of those five, Ajay Glass & Mirror Co., Inc. of Manchester, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $2,614,700.

SULLIVAN COUNTY

A construction contract to replace the water main at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility in Woodbourne, NY was bid by ten firms. Of those ten, C.A. Phillips Construction Corp. of Eldred, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $213,380.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY

Electrical, heating & ventilation, and elevator contracts were bid to rehabilitate the mess hall freight elevator at Building No. 4 at the Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, NY.

Electrical: Burke Electrical Construction, Inc. of Goshen, NY was the apparent low bidder out of eight firms. The low bid was $16,900.

Heating and Ventilation: D.C.I. Danaco Contractors Inc. of North Babylon, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $28,974.

Elevator: Centennial Elevator Ind., Inc. of Long Island City, NY was the apparent low bidder out of one firm. The low bid was $425,100.
