OGS To Award Over $16.2 Million In New Construction Contracts

Work to Commence in Seven New York Counties

ALBANY, NY (09/26/2007; 1229)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the awarding of bids for 11 contracts representing more than $16.2 MILLION in new construction, providing work in seven counties of New York.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

ALBANY COUNTY

A construction contract to abatement of small noncompliant waste tire sites central region at the Various DEC Locations in, NY was bid by four firms. Of those four, The Pike Company, Inc. of Rochester, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $3,571,332.

BROOME COUNTY

A construction contract to replace sanitary sewer, hecox hall Building No. 37 at the Greater Binghamton Health Center in Binghamton, NY was bid by three firms. Of those three, Tre-Gen Concrete Corp. of Johnson City, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $38,600.

ERIE COUNTY

A construction contract to replace existing roof skylights at the State Armory in Buffalo, NY was bid by one firm. Massa Construction, Inc. of Geneva, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $376,500.

MONROE COUNTY

Construction and electrical contracts were bid to rehabilitate masonry walls and stairs Building Nos. 1 & 29 at the Industry Limited Secure Center in Rush, NY.

Construction: Testa Construction Inc. of Rochester, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $458,400.

Electrical: Ty Electric Corp. of Rochester, NY was the apparent low bidder out of one firm. The low bid was $13,250.

SUFFOLK COUNTY

A construction contract to replace roof, Building No. 5 at the Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in West Brentwood, NY was bid by seven firms. Of those seven, Universal Const. of DK Inc. of Bethpage, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $167,280.

TOMPKINS COUNTY

A construction contract to replace roof at the Louis Gossett, Jr. Residential Center in Lansing, NY was bid by three firms. Of those three, A.W. Farrell & Son, Inc. of Dunkirk, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $128,540.

WARREN COUNTY

Construction, electrical, heating and ventilation and plumbing contracts were bid to construct armory at the Queensbury Armory in Queensbury, NY.

Construction: Bunkoff General Contractors, Inc. of Latham, NY was the apparent low bidder out of ten firms. The low bid was $8,766,800.

Electrical: Schenectady Hardware & Electric Co., Inc. of Schenectady, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $913,238.

Heating and Ventilation: John V. Warren, Inc. of Rensselaer, NY was the apparent low bidder out of nine firms. The low bid was $1,395,300.

Plumbing: John V. Warren, Inc. of Rensselaer, NY was the apparent low bidder out of six firms. The low bid was $439,900.
