OGS To Award Over $2.2 Million In New Construction Contracts

Work to Commence in Two New York Counties

ALBANY, NY (05/01/2008; 1318)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the awarding of bids for three contracts representing more than $2.2 MILLION in new construction, providing work in two counties of New York.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

CHEMUNG COUNTY

A construction contract to replace roofs Building Nos. 3, 8 and 'e' and 'f' blocks at the Elmira Correctional Facility in Elmira, NY was bid by two firms. Of those two, VMK Corp. of Brooklyn, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $1,537,000.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY

A heating and ventilation contract to rehabilitate condensate return system A and B blocks at the Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, NY was bid by four firms. Of those four, S & O Construction Services, Inc. of Pleasant Valley, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $410,830.

A plumbing contract to replace domestic water system, Building No. 6 at the Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, NY was bid by seven firms. Of those seven, Southeast Plumbing Corp. of Brewster, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $262,000.
