Work to Commence in Five New York Counties
ALBANY, NY (08/21/2008; 1225)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the awarding of bids for eight contracts representing more than $2.9 MILLION in new construction, providing work in five counties of New York.
The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All of the low bidders are New York State firms.
The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY
A construction contract to replace roofing, administration area at the State Armory in Dunkirk, NY was bid by three firms. Of those three, A.W. Farrell & Son, Inc. of Dunkirk, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $310,374.
CHEMUNG COUNTY
A heating and ventilation contract to replace dual temperature piping, Building No. 9 at the Elmira Psychiatric Center in Elmira, NY was bid by three firms. Of those three, John R. Wilkins Construction, Inc. of Syracuse, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $66,385.
NEW YORK COUNTY
A construction contract to replace fireproofing, atrium lobby, Building No. 5 at the New York Psychiatric Institute in New York, NY was bid by two firms. Of those two, Ahern Painting Contractors, Inc. of Woodside, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $425,600.
ONEIDA COUNTY
Construction and electrical contracts were bid to provide stormwater system at the DOT Region 2, Oneida County in Alder Creek, NY.
Construction: Central New York Const., Inc. of Barneveld, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $184,200.
Electrical: S.C. Spencer Electric, Inc. of Constableville, NY was the apparent low bidder out of one firm. The low bid was $25,000.
SUFFOLK COUNTY
Construction, electrical and heating and ventilation contracts were bid to provide fire alarm, smoke detection and emergency voice evacuation systems at the Suffolk State Office Building in Hauppauge, NY.
Construction: Kenstar Construction Corp. of Bohemia, NY was the apparent low bidder out of one firm. The low bid was $455,800.
Electrical: Roland's Electric, Inc. of Deer Park, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $1,282,600.
Heating and Ventilation: UAP Inc. of Poughquag, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $229,500.
