OGS To Award Over $25.4 Million In New Construction Contracts

Work to Commence in Eight New York Counties

ALBANY, NY (10/17/2007; 1324)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the awarding of bids for 16 contracts representing more than $25.4 MILLION in new construction, providing work in eight counties of New York.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. Fourteen of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

BROOME COUNTY

A construction contract to provide recreation yard, hecox hall at the Greater Binghamton Health Center in Binghamton, NY was bid by two firms. Of those two, Vacri Construction Corp. of Binghamton, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $175,000.

CHEMUNG COUNTY

A construction contract to replace roofs, Building Nos. 4, 5, 9, 26, 27 & 28 at the Southport Correctional Facility in Pine City, NY was bid by four firms. Of those four, A.W. Farrell & Son, Inc. of Dunkirk, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $1,458,400.

CLINTON COUNTY

A construction contract to replace roofs, phase ii Building Nos. 1-3, 5-8,10, 33,34 & 90-97 at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, NY was bid by four firms. Of those four, Best Roofing of New Jersey, Inc. of Wallington, NJ was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $6,730,000.

Construction and electrical contracts were bid to provide canopy, loading dock, Building No. 15 at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, NY.

Construction: Continental Construction, LLC of Gouverneur, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $163,900.

Electrical: O'Connell Electric Company of Victor, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $7,710.

Electrical and heating and ventilation contracts were bid to replace cooling tower, Building A13, annex at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, NY.

Electrical: Dow Electric, Inc. of Malone, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $17,700.

Heating and Ventilation: Brockway Mechanical Systems, Inc. of Plattsburgh, NY was the apparent low bidder out of six firms. The low bid was $227,227.

FRANKLIN COUNTY:

Electrical and heating and ventilation contracts were bid to replace underground heating system at the Bare Hill Correctional Facility in Malone, NY.

Electrical: O'Connell Electric Company of Victor, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $246,900.

Heating and Ventilation: North Central Mechanical Inc. of Victor, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $13,851,000.

ONTARIO COUNTY

A construction contract to ammo and firearms vault structural repairs at the Troop E Headquarters in Canandaigua, NY was bid by four firms. Of those four, Massa Construction, Inc. of Geneva, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $42,700.

RENSSELAER COUNTY

A construction contract to tire remediation almag & eagle tire sites at the Gerald Eagle Property in Schaghticoke, NY was bid by four firms. Of those four, Rifenburg Contracting Corp. of Troy, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $2,023,624.

ROCKLAND COUNTY

A construction contract to asbestos abatement, Building No. 47 at the Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, NY was bid by ten firms. Of those ten, Four Strong Builders, Inc. of Clifton, NJ was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $157,800.

SCHUYLER COUNTY

Construction, electrical, heating and ventilation and plumbing contracts were bid to rehabilitate A1 & A2 dorm shower and toilet rooms at the Monterey Correctional Facility in Beaver Dams, NY.

Construction: W.L. Kline, Inc. of Binghamton, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $159,780.

Electrical: JB Daniel LLC of Geneva, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $23,300.

Heating and Ventilation: Kimble, Inc. of Elmira, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $63,200.

Plumbing: HMI Mechanical Systems, Inc. of Lyons, NY was the apparent low bidder out of six firms. The low bid was $109,189.
