OGS To Award Over $3.1 Million In New Construction Contracts

Work to Commence in Five New York Counties

ALBANY, NY (05/08/2008; 1021)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the awarding of bids for ten contracts representing more than $3.1 MILLION in new construction, providing work in five counties of New York.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

CHEMUNG COUNTY

Electrical and elevator contracts were bid to rehabilitate elevator in kitchen, Building No. 16 at the Elmira Correctional Facility in Elmira, NY.

Electrical: JB Daniel LLC of Geneva, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $4,700.

Elevator: Downey-Goodlein Elevator Corp. of Rochester, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $299,000.

ERIE COUNTY

A plumbing contract to replace sprinkler systems Building Nos. 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 at the Collins Correctional Facility in Collins, NY was bid by two firms. Of those two, John W. Danforth Company of Tonawanda, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $99,700.

ORLEANS COUNTY

Electrical, heating and ventilation and plumbing contracts were bid to upgrade heating and plumbing system Building No. 7 and provide above-ground piping, Building. Nos. 7 to 14 at the Albion Correctional Facility in Albion, NY.

Electrical: Frey Electric Construction Co., Inc. of Tonawanda, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $57,000.

Heating and Ventilation: John W. Danforth Company of Tonawanda, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $1,194,000.

Plumbing: Michael A. Ferrauilo Plbg. & Htg., Inc. of Rochester, NY was the apparent low bidder out of one firm. The low bid was $815,766.

RENSSELAER COUNTY

A construction contract to miscellaneous envelope repairs at the State Armory in Troy, NY was bid by six firms. Of those six, Sam Greco Construction, Inc. of Albany, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $376,000.

WAYNE COUNTY

Construction and plumbing contracts were bid to provide flooring, kitchen, Building No. 2 at the Butler Correctional Facility in Red Creek, NY.

Construction: C&S Technical Resources, Inc. of Syracuse, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $100,438.

Plumbing: LeClaire-Fleming Mech. Contractors, Inc. of Rochester, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $27,844.

A construction contract to replace windows, housing Building Nos. 4, 5 and 6 at the Butler ASACT Center in Red Creek, NY was bid by five firms. Of those five, Window Specialist, Inc. of Lancaster, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $155,900.
