OGS To Award Over $4.6 Million In New Construction Contracts

Work to Commence in Nine New York Counties

ALBANY, NY (09/05/2007; 1420)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the awarding of bids for 14 contracts representing more than $4.6 MILLION in new construction, providing work in nine counties of New York.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All but one of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

CHEMUNG COUNTY

Construction, electrical and heating and ventilation contracts were bid to provide security modifications mess hall corridor and gas booths, Building No. 16 at the Elmira Correctional Facility in Elmira, NY.

Construction: Massa Construction, Inc. of Geneva, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $393,300.

Electrical: G.O. Wick, Inc. of Elmira, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $173,000.

Heating and Ventilation: Kimble, Inc. of Elmira, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $24,850.

CLINTON COUNTY

Construction and electrical contracts were bid to provide fire curtain-hartman theater myers building at the State University College in Plattsburgh, NY.

Construction: Syracuse Scenery & Stage Lighting Co., Inc. of Liverpool, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $56,000.

Electrical: William J. Murray, Inc. of Plattsburgh, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $4,000.

DUTCHESS COUNTY

A plumbing contract to provide new above ground tank, Building No. 7 at the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill, NY was bid by five firms. Of those five, S & W Services, Inc. of East Syracuse, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $129,184.

ORANGE COUNTY

Construction and electrical contracts were bid to replace roofs Building Nos. 118, 121, 122, 123 & 124 at the Otisville Correctional Facility in Otisville, NY.

Construction: Maximus 1 Contracting Corp. of Long Island City, NY was the apparent low bidder out of ten firms. The low bid was $787,600.

Electrical: Napp Electric Contractor Co., Inc. of Middletown, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $52,215.

QUEENS COUNTY

A heating and ventilation contract to provide vehicle exhaust system at the State Armory in Jamaica, NY was bid by three firms. Of those three, Air Purifiers, Inc. of Rockaway, NJ was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $34,600.

RENSSELAER COUNTY

A construction contract to provide modified bitumen roofing system drill hall and field maintenance shop at the State Armory in Troy, NY was bid by nine firms. Of those nine, Skyway Roofing, Inc. of Albany, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $485,958.

SUFFOLK COUNTY

A construction contract to replace roof at the State Armory in Huntington Station, NY was bid by 11 firms. Of those 11, E. & S. Construction Corporation of Brooklyn, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $136,100.

ULSTER COUNTY

A construction contract to repair delaminating concrete, south wall at the Eastern Correctional Facility in Napanoch, NY was bid by eight firms. Of those eight, Lupini Construction, Inc. of New York Mills, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $469,000.

WYOMING COUNTY

Electrical and plumbing contracts were bid to provide programmed toilet flush valve system c and d cell blocks at the Attica Correctional Facility in Attica, NY.

Electrical: O'Connell Electric Company of Victor, NY was the apparent low bidder out of one firm. The low bid was $1,194,800.

Plumbing: M.K.S. Plumbing Corp. of West Seneca, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $716,000.
