OGS to Award over $3.0 Million in New Construction Contracts

Work to Commence in Eight New York Counties

ALBANY, NY (03/13/2008; 1111)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the awarding of bids for 16 contracts representing more than $3.0 MILLION in new construction, providing work in eight counties of New York.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All but one of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

DUTCHESS COUNTY

A construction contract to rehabilitate the corridor roof between complexes 2 & 5, 3 & 5 and crossover tunnel at the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill, NY was bid by four firms. Of those four, Mid-State Industries, Ltd. of Schenectady, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $681,011.

GREENE COUNTY

Construction and electrical contracts were bid to upgrade lighting, special housing unit Building No. 11 at the Greene Correctional Facility in Coxsackie, NY.

Construction: Adirondeck Construction Co., Inc. of Loudonville, NY was the apparent low bidder out of one firm. The low bid was $96,061.

Electrical: Gomez Electrical Contr., Inc. of Albany, NY was the apparent low bidder out of 13 firms. The low bid was $36,940.

Construction and electrical contracts were bid to rehabilitate barscreen, powerhouse at the Greene Correctional Facility in Coxsackie, NY.

Construction: Iota Construction Corp. of Rensselaer, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $519,624.

Electrical: Stilsing Electric, Inc. of Rensselaer, NY was the apparent low bidder out of ten firms. The low bid was $35,603.

NEW YORK COUNTY

A construction contract to replace glass panels of west facade Building No. 5 at the New York Psychiatric Institute in New York, NY was bid by four firms. Of those four, Dani's Windows & Glass Inc. of Massapequa, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $26,670.

ROCKLAND COUNTY

Electrical and heating and ventilation contracts were bid to provide ventilation, transformer room Building No. 39 at the Nathan Kline Research Institute in Orangeburg, NY.

Electrical: Fanshawe, Inc. d/b/a Rockland Electric of Nanuet, NY was the apparent low bidder out of six firms. The low bid was $22,800.

Heating and Ventilation: EX Air, Inc. d/b/a DDC Air Conditioning of Teterboro, NJ was the apparent low bidder out of eight firms. The low bid was $178,750.

SARATOGA COUNTY

Construction, electrical and heating and ventilation contracts were bid to provide access, main entrance at the NYS Military Museum and Veterans Research Center in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Construction: J.M. Zalinka & Co. of Watervliet, NY was the apparent low bidder out of two firms. The low bid was $141,350.

Electrical: J McBain, Inc. of Troy, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $9,400.

Heating and Ventilation: R.F. Gordon Mechanical, Inc. of So. Glens Falls, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $20,350.

ST LAWRENCE COUNTY

A construction contract to demolish Building No. 46 and enclose exposed steam lines at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in Ogdensburg, NY was bid by ten firms. Of those ten, Richardson & Sons of Ogdensburg, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $285,900.

ULSTER COUNTY

A construction contract to replace vehicle fueling station at the Eastern Correctional Facility in Napanoch, NY was bid by six firms. Of those six, S & W Services, Inc. of East Syracuse, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $425,914.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY

Construction, electrical and heating and ventilation contracts were bid to provide program and office space for icp expansion Building No. 113, basement, lobby/draft area at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in Bedford Hills, NY.

Construction: JTS Construction of Dutchess, Inc. of Pawling, NY was the apparent low bidder out of ten firms. The low bid was $284,760.

Electrical: J.H.S. Electric Services Inc. of Bellmore, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $186,019.

Heating and Ventilation: Empire Mechanical Services Inc. of Yonkers, NY was the apparent low bidder out of seven firms. The low bid was $136,634.
