OGS to Award over $8 Million in New Construction Contracts

Work to Commence in Six New York Counties

ALBANY, NY (03/27/2008; 1314)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced the awarding of bids for 11 contracts representing more than $8 million in new construction, providing work in six counties of New York.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

BROOME COUNTY

A construction contract to inspect the structural integrity, steam tunnel Building No. 47 at the Greater Binghamton Health Center in Binghamton, NY was bid by two firms. Of those two, KHM, Inc. of Binghamton, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $33,300.

CAYUGA COUNTY

A construction contract to replace catwalks from wall post #10 to #12 at the Auburn Correctional Facility in Auburn, NY was bid by six firms. Of those six, Upstate Construction Services Inc. of East Syracuse, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $465,520.

COLUMBIA COUNTY

A construction contract to provide addition of fire access road and gates at the Brookwood Secure Center in Claverack, NY was bid by four firms. Of those four, Arold Construction Co., Inc. of Kingston, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $97,470.

RICHMOND COUNTY

Construction and electrical contracts were bid to provide asphalt parking area and lighting at the State Armory in Staten Island, NY.

Construction: Aikler Asphalt Paving Co. Inc. of Bronx, NY was the apparent low bidder out of seven firms. The low bid was $369,500.

Electrical: MSR Electrical Construction Corp. of Brooklyn, NY was the apparent low bidder out of six firms. The low bid was $106,300.

ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY

Construction and plumbing contracts were bid to provide exterior grease traps and replace kitchen floor, Building No. 12 at the Riverview Correctional Facility in Ogdensburg, NY.

Construction: Con Tech Building Systems, Inc. of Gouverneur, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $320,702.

Plumbing: Skelly Contractors, Inc. of Ogdensburg, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $44,877.

SULLIVAN COUNTY

Construction, electrical, heating and ventilation and plumbing contracts were bid to rehabilitate food service facilities at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility in Woodbourne, NY.

Construction: Darlind Construction, Inc. of Lagrangeville, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $4,785,088.

Electrical: P & D Electric of Hudson Valley, Inc. of Beacon, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $481,532.

Heating and Ventilation: General Mech. Systems, Inc. of Halfmoon, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $879,326.

Plumbing: General Mech. Systems, Inc. of Halfmoon, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $482,900.
