RICHMOND HILL, NY (02/25/2008; 1109)(readMedia)-- The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 30, will conduct recruitment on March 6 and March 7 for 50 stationary engineer apprentices, State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith announced today.
Applications can be obtained at the local, 115-06 Myrtle Ave., Richmond Hill, Thursday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Completed applications must be returned or postmarked by March 14.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
