ALBANY, NY (05/05/2008; 1246)(readMedia)-- On Thursday, May 8, leaders of the New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF) will release new research detailing how the state of New York can save up to three quarters of a billion dollars a year.
PEF leaders will be joined by a representative of the Office of the State Comptroller at 10:30 a.m. in the LCA Press Room in the Convention Center, Albany.
The research will detail the amount of money the state is spending on costly private consultants and demonstrate how the state can save millions by having state employees perform the same work. The research will also reveal how state agencies are under reporting, or in some cases not reporting, the amount spent on private consultants, as required by the 2006 Contract Disclosure Law.
PEF is the state’s second-largest state-employee union representing 58,000 professional, scientific and technical workers. For more information, please call Darcy Wells at the PEF Department of Public Relations at (518) 785-1900 ext. 277 or (518) 859-1274.
