Patent Indices Holding Steady

ALBANY, NY (10/09/2007; 1349)(readMedia)-- Hoffman, Warnick & D'Alessandro LLC (HWD), an intellectual property law firm based in Albany, NY, has released the Tech Valley Patent Index for Second Quarter 2007. The “Patent Indices” include data for: the Capital Region (Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties), Tech Valley, Tech Valley without IBM and GE, and the Capital Region without GE.

With regard to the Third Quarter, “the number of patents issuing to Tech Valley inventors is a quite a bit lower compared to last year at this time, but the Capital Region is up a bit over last quarter," stated Spencer Warnick, partner at Hoffman, Warnick & D’Alessandro.

The "Patent of the Quarter" is chosen to illustrate firsthand the creativity of Tech Valley inventors. This quarter, the POQ is awarded to: US Patent No. 7,248,946 issued to Travis Bashaw, David Torrey and Robert Carpenter for “Inverter control methodology for distributed generation sources connected to a utility grid.” The patent issued July 24, 2007, and is assigned to Advanced Energy Conversion of Ballston Spa.
