ALBANY, NY (04/11/2008; 1157)(readMedia)-- Hoffman, Warnick & D'Alessandro LLC (HWD), an intellectual property law firm based in Albany, NY, has released the Tech Valley Patent Index for First Quarter 2008. The “Patent Index” includes data for: the Capital Region (Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties), Tech Valley, Tech Valley without IBM and GE, and the Capital Region without GE.
With regard to the First Quarter, “the numbers for Tech Valley are a little lower this quarter, but the Capital Region is up by almost 20 patents over last quarter," stated Spencer Warnick, partner at Hoffman, Warnick & D’Alessandro.
The "Patent of the Quarter" is chosen to illustrate firsthand the creativity of Tech Valley inventors. This quarter, the POQ is awarded to: US Patent No. 7332313 issued to Ivar Giaevar and Charles Keese for “Electrical Wounding Assay for Cells In Vitro.” The patent issued February 19, 2008. The patent is assigned to Applied BioPhysics of Troy, which is a client of Hoffman, Warnick & D’Alessandro.
