ALBANY, NY (02/05/2008; 1046)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that the exit ramp at Exit 7S (Union Avenue, Route 300, I-87) from I-84 eastbound to Route 300 southbound will be closed temporarily from Wednesday, February 6 through Friday, February 8, as well as Monday, February 11, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on each of these days, weather permitting. The closure is necessary to allow for the continuation of steel installation as part of the I-84/I-87 Interchange 17 reconstruction project.
During the temporary closure, traffic will be detoured to Exit 7N (Union Avenue, Route 300, I-87) just to the east, in order to access Route 300 southbound during those hours.
Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) will be activated to inform motorists of the closure and detour. Motorists are urged to approach the work zone with caution and to follow the detour signs posted along the roadway.
This closure and detour is necessary to sustain the timely completion of the $66.7 million I-84/I-87 Interchange 17 reconstruction project. The work is being completed by A. Servidone/B. Anthony Construction Corporation of Castleton, New York and is scheduled to be completed by November 2009.
