Illegal Passing a Big Problem
ALBANY, NY (04/23/2008; 1642)(readMedia)-- The New York Association for Pupil Transportation will hold a press conference at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2008, at the Syracuse City School District Transportation Office at 369 6th North Street in Syracuse.
The purpose of the press conference will be to share with the public the results of the first two weeks of operation for the Syracuse school bus recently equipped with an ELSAG mobile license plate reader.
In addition, data will be available from the statewide Operation Safe Stop Enforcement Day that was held on April 2, 2008. Operation Safe Stop is a safety initiative to reduce the incidence of illegal passing of school buses.
At the press conference, NYAPT will also share information on its efforts to track illegal passing of school buses in communities across the state.
