Revised: New York State Office for the Aging Celebrates Senior Citizens’ Day 2008

What: A public event and information fair celebrating Senior Citizens’ Day - The annual event is sponsored by NYSOFA, its advisory committees and Legislative partners to recognize the significant efforts made by older residents from across the state to improve the lives of others living in their communities. This year’s theme is New York @ Home: Independent Living for Older New Yorkers.

Where: Empire State Plaza, Meeting Room 6, Albany, NY.

When: Tuesday May 6, 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Event Highlights: Unveiling of New York @ Home, a new initiative by Director Burgess; Special Guest Speaker, former United States Senator and the current national spokesperson for Experience Wave, Hon. Harris Wofford; presentation of NYSOFA Lifetime Achievement Award to Ava Dorfman, an advocate for over 50 years, by Michael J. Burgess; presentation of Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen by Senator Martin J. Golden; Presentation of NYS Senior of the Year by Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz; musical entertainment and more. Open to the public and Press. A web cast of the event will be available beginning at 1:00 pm on May 6th, and continue for three months thereafter.
