This calendar contains a sampling of arts, workshops, talks and other events at the college, all of which are open to the public and many of which are free of charge.

"Out of Exile: Narratives from the Abducted and Displaced People of Sudan," editor Craig Walzer speaks, 12:15 p.m. in Room 202, Yokum Hall, SUNY Plattsburgh Campus. Walzer has traveled extensively through Kenya, the Sudan and Egypt and has collected and recorded the stories of people who have been displaced by the violence in the region.

Rick Leibowitz, the regional director of the North Country Small Business Development Center, and other presenters will discuss the ins and outs of marketing, including Internet marketing techniques. Poetry Reading with Jazz Combo, 8 p.m. Alumni Conference Room, Angell College Center, SUNY Plattsburgh campus. Visiting poet and recording artist Barry Wallenstein will perform with the SUNY Jazz Combo. Wallenstein has three labels with Cadence Jazz Records: "Euphoria Ripens," "Tony's Blues," and "Pandemonium." Sponsored by the Visiting Poets and Writers Series and coordinated by Alexis Levitin, the performance will feature music and vocals, hip poetry and improvised jazz.

It is a funny and provocative educational comedy that uses multimedia and celebrity impersonations to engage the audience in reflection about positive transformation. The Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir's annual Christmas concert will feature works by James Cleveland, Richard Smallwood, Joe Pace, Donald Lawrence, Kirk Franklin and much more. The group will also perform Christmas songs with a little taste of gospel. Favorites like "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "Joy to the World" and "Go Tell It on the Mountain" will be sung at the concert.
