ALBANY, NY (08/04/2008; 1325)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that due to recent flood damage, shoulder repair work at milepost 167.9, located eastbound between Interchanges 27 (Amsterdam) and 26 (Schenectady), will necessitate the right lane to be closed around-the-clock beginning on Monday, August 4, 2008.
At 8:00 a.m. this morning, Authority maintenance crews closed the right eastbound lane, for approximately one mile, beginning at milepost 167.9. It is anticipated that this lane will be closed around-the-clock until noon on Friday, August 8, 2008.
The Authority has activated its Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) to advise motorists of the construction and required lane closure.
As always, motorists are reminded to remain alert and aware of their surroundings while traveling through the construction work zone. Motorists should also keep in mind that fines for speeding are doubled in construction work zones.
The Authority appreciates motorists' patience and understanding as this essential highway improvement project takes place.
