ALBANY, NY (10/25/2007; 1559)(readMedia)-- The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Sprinkler Fitters, Local 669 (Capital Region), will conduct recruitment from November 4, 2007 through April 26, 2008 for five apprentices, State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith announced today.
Applications can be obtained Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the following NYS Department of Labor employment services offices: Clinton County – One Worksource, 194 US Oval, Plattsburgh; Essex County – Elizabethtown One Worksource Center, 2 Church St., Elizabethtown; Franklin County – Malone One Worksource Center, 158 Finney Blvd. & Woodward St., Malone; Fulton County – Gloversville Workforce Solutions, 199 S. Main St., Gloversville; St. Lawrence County – St. Lawrence One-Stop Career Center, 80 State Highway 310, Suite 8, Canton.
Applications will also be available at the NYS Building and Construction Trades Council, 890 Third St., Albany, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., on the following Saturdays: November 4 and 18, December 2 and 16, January 5 and 19, February 2 and 16, March 8 and 29 and April 12 and 26.
The committee requires that applicants:
Proof of education and veteran status must be submitted at the time of indenture.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
