State Bar Presents Forum on Race and Education "A Rehearing of Brown v. Board of Education"

Program will examine landmark 1954 court case and its impact on modern education in New York

ALBANY, NY (05/06/2008; 0916)(readMedia)-- The State Bar Association, in conjunction with Albany Law School, Government Law Center, New York State United Teachers, and the Capital District Black and Hispanic Bar Association, will present “A Rehearing of Brown v Board of Education” on May 6, 2008 at the State Bar Center in Albany at 6 p.m. The program will explore what is widely considered one of the most significant court rulings in the last one hundred years, in the context of New York’s current educational system. A distinguished panel of scholars and educators will speak on the topic of race and education and offer solutions for closing the achievement gap in New York.

Scheduled presenters will include: Prof. Anthony Farley, Esq., Albany Law School; Fadhilika Atiba-Weza, Superintendent of the Enlarged City School District of Troy; Jay Worona, Esq., NYS School Boards Association; Donna Young, Esq., Albany Law School; and Alan Lubin, Executive Vice President, New York State United Teachers.
