Third Annual SNMA Health Fair at the Drew Wellness Center

Hosted by USC School of Medicine’s Student National Medical Association

COLUMBIA, SC (02/28/2008; 0923)(readMedia)-- The Governor and First Lady’s Healthy South Carolina Challenge is pleased to announce the USC School of Medicine’s third annual SNMA Family Health Fair. The event, sponsored by the Student National Medical Association, will take place on Saturday, March 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All are invited to attend at the Drew Wellness center in downtown Columbia.

The health fair will feature free health screenings, activities for children, educational pamphlets and other valuable information to help improve health. Free health screenings include diabetes, blood pressure, vision, dental and HIV. There will be educational opportunities to learn self-breast exam techniques for breast cancer awareness and prevention. Health information will be provided from American Cancer Society, American Lupus Foundation, USC Cancer Prevention and Control, Cancer Health Initiative, SC DHEC, Vocational Rehabilitation and various others. Children will enjoy face painting, games and prizes, and a child-fingerprinting program through the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

The Drew Wellness Center is located at 2101 Walker Solomon Way in Columbia.
