ALBANY, NY (10/22/2007; 1016)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that bridge inspections will necessitate alternating eastbound and westbound lane closures near Interchange 25 (Schenectady, I-890) on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, weather permitting.
Thruway Authority Maintenance Crews will be closing the westbound left and center lanes just south of Interchange 25, between milepost 152.7 and milepost 153.8 at 8:00 a.m. Once work is completed above the left and center lanes, Maintenance Crews will reopen those lanes and then close the right lane. The westbound inspections are scheduled to be completed by 11:00 a.m.
Also on Wednesday, Thruway Maintenance Crews will be closing the eastbound left and center lanes between milepost 154.8 and milepost 153.8 at 11:00 a.m. Once work is completed above the left and center lanes, those lanes will reopen and then the right lane will be closed while the bridge above that lane is inspected. The eastbound inspections are scheduled to be completed by 1:00 p.m.
The Authority will activate its Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) to alert motorists of the lane closures. Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) will also be posted in advance of the area to provide motorists with notice of the required lane closures.
Motorists are reminded to remain alert and aware of their surroundings while traveling through the work zone. Motorists should also keep in mind that speeding fines are doubled in work zones. The Authority appreciates motorists' patience and understanding while this essential inspection takes place.
