ALBANY, NY (07/03/2008; 1135)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that a bridge repair will necessitate the closure of the southbound Exit 8 (Niagara Street) ramp on I-190 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2008. Motorists may experience delays as a result of this work.
During the temporary closure a marked detour route will be in place directing the southbound traffic to Exit 6, (Elm Street, Oak Street), where they can re-enter the Thruway and travel northbound to the northbound exit ramp at Exit 8. Exit 8 is located at milepost 5.86 and is approximately 1.3 miles north of Exit 6.
The Authority will activate its Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) to inform motorists of the closure and detour. Motorists are urged to approach the work zone with caution and to follow the detour signs posted along the roadway.
The Authority appreciates motorists' patience during this time.
