Thruway Authority Announces Lane Closure Due to Buckley Road Bridge Project

Motorists May Experience Delays

ALBANY, NY (04/01/2008; 1015)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that the Buckley Road Bridge reconstruction project, located between Interchanges 36 (Watertown, Binghamton, I-81) and 37 (Syracuse, Liverpool, Electronics Parkway), at milepost 283.04, will necessitate a northbound lane closure beginning Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 7 a.m., weather permitting.

The Authority will shut down the northbound lane of the bridge and all traffic will be diverted to the southbound lane. Although traffic lights will be utilized to alternately move traffic over the bridge, moderate to severe delays could occur in both directions of Buckley Road during morning and afternoon commutes. The new traffic setup is expected to be in place until approximately October 1, 2008.

Detours signs will be in place to advise southbound motorists to take Hopkins Road to Electronics Parkway to Seventh North Street. Northbound motorists will be advised to take Seventh North Street to Electronics Parkway to Hopkins Road.

The Authority has set up Dynamic Message Sings (DMS) on both sides of the bridge to alert motorists of the lane closure.

The Authority appreciates motorists’ patience while this essential bridge reconstruction project takes place.
