Thruway Authority Announces Lane Closures on South Grand Island Bridges

Due to Required Statewide Inspections of Deck Truss Bridges

ALBANY, NY (09/14/2007; 1600)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that underbridge inspections of the South Grand Island Bridges will take place on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16, 2007. Lane closures will be required to perform these inspections.

Thruway Bridge Maintenance crews will perform the inspection on the South Grand Island Bridge southbound from 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The inspection on the South Grand Island Bridge northbound will take place from 6 a.m. to noon on Sunday. Minimal to moderate delays are expected.

Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) will be activated to inform motorists of the inspection and potential delays.
