Thruway Authority Announces Limited Truck Parking at Junius Ponds Travel Plaza

ALBANY, NY (07/02/2008; 1512)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority announces that a pavement resurfacing project in the east truck parking area at Junius Ponds Travel Plaza, located westbound, between Interchanges 41 (Waterloo) and 42 (Geneva), at milepost 324, will result in limited parking for tractor trailers beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008.

All truck parking spaces in the east truck parking lot will be impacted by the resurfacing project. The 14 spaces will be closed from 8 a.m. on Monday, July 7 through 5 p.m. on Friday, July 11, weather permitting. It is anticipated that the east truck parking lot will be reopened at full capacity by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2008.

Commercial motorists traveling westbound on the Thruway in this area are advised that tractor trailer parking is also available at the Warners Travel Plaza, located approximately 32 miles prior to the Junius Ponds Travel Plaza, and at the Seneca Travel Plaza, located approximately 26 miles after the Junius Ponds Travel Plaza.

Additionally, commercial motorists should be advised the pavement resurfacing project in the east lot of the Junius Ponds truck parking area will resume on Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18, which will impact only five of the fourteen spaces in the east lot. It is anticipated that the truck parking lot will be reopened at full capacity by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008.

The Authority will activate its Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) prior to the Junius Ponds Travel Plaza to advise motorists of project.
