Law Day Timeline: Thursday, May 1, 2008, Toledo Riverfront Hotel

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

11:30 am—High School & Junior High Students Receive Essay Awards For the Annual Essay Writing Contest, co-sponsored by the Toledo Blade, area students wrote winning essays addressing the 2008 Law Day question.

The question and a list of eight student winners accompanies this document. All winning students will receive plaques from The Blade and U.S. Savings Bonds from the Toledo Bar Association sponsored by the Toledo Bar Association Foundation. James H. Irmen, Esq., President of the Toledo Bar Association will preside.

12:00 p.m. — Lunch

12:30 p.m. — Program

Hon. Melvin L. Resnick receives the Distinguished Toledo Attorney Award presented on behalf of The University of Toledo College of Law Alumni Association by Hon. Charles Doneghy.

Student Essay Winners acknowledged.

WTOL News 11 presents plaques in appreciation to Toledo area attorneys, for their service to the “Ask the Attorney” program.

Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher and journalist Jack Lessenberry present Law Day addresses. Biographies of Fisher and Lessenberry are attached.

Law Day is a national celebration of the American system of justice. It is observed on the first day of May each year.
