Traffic Advisory: Thruway Authority Announces Reduced Southbound Lanes on Tappan Zee Bridge
Southbound Motorists Advised to Seek Alternate Route
ALBANY, NY (02/22/2008; 0516)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority announces that the current lane configuration on the Tappan Zee Bridge only allows for three lanes of southbound traffic.
Due to inclement weather, the Authority's New York Division Maintenance crews are currently unable to utilize the movable barrier on the Tappan Zee Bridge to provide four lanes of southbound traffic for the morning commute.
As soon as conditions permit the lane configuration will be adjusted to allow an additional lane of southbound traffic for the morning commute.
Motorists traveling southbound in the area are advised to seek an alternate route if possible.
The Authority appreciates motorists' patience during this time.
