Motorists May Experience Minor Delays
ALBANY, NY (10/26/2007; 1417)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that bridge work will necessitate a week-long closure of the right southbound lane near Interchange 21 (Catskill) beginning on Monday, October 29, 2007, weather permitting.
On Monday, October 29, beginning at 9:00 a.m., Thruway Authority Maintenance Crews will be closing the right southbound lane, just south of Interchange 21, for bridge work. This lane is scheduled to remain closed until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2007. This closure will also impact traffic entering the Thruway southbound where the ramp and mainline meet. Motorists using this ramp should be prepared to yield or stop prior to merging with southbound Thruway traffic.
The left lane southbound will remain open; however, motorists are reminded to remain alert and aware of their surroundings while traveling through the work zone. Motorists should also keep in mind that speeding fines are doubled in work zones.
Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) will also be posted in advance of the area to provide motorists with notice of the required lane closures.
The Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding while this essential project takes place.
