Workshop to explore timely topic of diversity

LATHAM, NY (04/28/2008; 0900)(readMedia)-- The New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) is offering a unique, three-day seminar on the issues of ethnic diversity and social justice. These topics are keenly relevant at a time when race, gender, and immigration are topics of heated discussion on the national scene and in local workplaces.

“Examining Diversity: An Intellectual Adventure,” will be held on June 16-18, 2008, at the Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and is recommended for registered nurses, educators, and other healthcare and social service professionals. Those who complete the course will receive 11.5 contact hours in continuing nursing education.

Presenter J.W. Wiley is director of the Center for Diversity, Pluralism and Inclusion and a lecturer in philosophy and minority studies at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. A prolific writer and presenter, he has been a presenter at the Annual National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education.

Cost for the three-day event is $395 for NYSNA members and $455 for nonmembers, which includes breakfast and lunch. One-day registration is available. For detailed information, visit www.nysna.org or call 800-724-6976, ext. 377.
