STRATTON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, SCOTIA, NY (06/02/2011)(readMedia)-- The New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing will open its new Wellness Center, designed to provide one-stop assistance to Airmen and their families, Friday morning.

WHO: Leaders and Airmen of the 109th Airlift Wing

WHAT: A short ceremony opening the 109th Wellness Center, a location where Airmen and their family members can access the services provided by the Wing Director of Psychological Health, the Airman and Family Readiness Program, the Chaplains office and the Medical Clinic, in one location. The goal is to provide a continuum of care that supports Airmen and their families. Interviews with organizers of this effort and leaders will be avialable.

WHEN: 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011

WHERE: Stratton Air National Guard Base, off Maple Avenue, Scotia.

Background:

The 109th Airlift Wing, based at Stratton Air National Guard Base, is the only unit in the United States military equipped with aircraft capable of landing on snow and ice. The 109th routinely provides logistics support to National Science Foundation Research mission in the Antarctic and Greenland. Members of the 109th routinely deploy around the world in support of United States combat missions and other contingencies and also stand ready to respond to state emergencies here at home at the direction of the governor.
