150+ ADVOCATES, ELECTEDS TO DEMAND ASSEMBLY FIGHT TO LOWER ENERGY BILLS, INCLUDE NY HEAT ACT IN FINAL BUDGET
NY HEAT Act would save families who need it most an average of $136 every month and curb utility rate hikes happening across NYS; Senate included full bill in one-house budget for third year in a row - now Assembly must step up and help New Yorkers with their skyrocketing energy bills by putting NY HEAT Act in final budget
ALBANY, NY (03/18/2025) (readMedia)-- Tomorrow, as frustration mounts over Albany's failure to lower energy bills and stop continued rate hikes slamming families across the state, hundreds of New Yorkers will rally at the Capitol with lawmakers to demand the Assembly fight to include the NY HEAT Act in the final budget. The Senate included the full bill in their one-house budget proposal for the third straight year, and the Governor has supported it - now, the Assembly must follow their lead and address the energy affordability crisis.
1 in 4 New Yorkers already can't afford energy prices - and a clear majority need policies to make life more affordable for them. The NY HEAT Act is the clear solution to lowering energy bills, curbing future rate hikes, and saving the families who need it most an average of $136 on their energy bills every single month. Advocates will demand that Assembly Members stop holding up relief for everyday families and get the bill done NOW.
