Syracuse Airmen Protecting US Troops on The Ground

HANCOCK FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, SYRACUSE, NY (12/01/2009)(readMedia)-- As of 1 December 2009, the 174th Fighter Wing has entered steady state operations flying MQ-9 Reaper missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

These missions, just like previous operations flown by our F-16 Fighting Falcons in Afghanistan, and Iraq as recently as last year, are centered in Afghanistan and focus primarily on providing over watch of American Soldiers and Marines on the ground.

All media outlets are invited to attend a briefing at Hancock Field on Thursday, 17 December 2009 from 0900 to 1100 to receive further updates on the status of the 174th Fighter Wing's mission change.
