2013 Ford F-150 Limited Loads Up on Luxury

New Top-Trim of Best-Selling Pickup Is the Most Refined Yet

BEVERLY, MASS. (07/13/2012)(readMedia)-- Today's pickup buyers are increasingly expecting luxury amenities to come along with their truck's capability, and Ford says that the high-end trims of its F-150 currently make up more than 30 percent of the vehicle's sales. To better meet those expectations, the automaker is coming out with its most refined F-150 yet, the newly announced 2013 Ford F-150 Limited.

Due to reach dealerships this fall, the 2013 Ford F-150 Limited has an upscale cabin featuring red and black full-grain leather seats that wouldn't be out of place in a Bentley or Mercedes-Benz, as well as 22-inch polished aluminum wheels and segment-first high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps. The F-150 Limited also receives a wealth of technology, like rain-sensing windshield wipers, a powerful Sony Audio System and MyFord Touch powered by SYNC.

"There are automakers that specialize in luxury and there are automakers that specialize in capability, but Ford is the only truck maker doing both at such a high level," said Steve Leary, Dealer Principal of Thomas Ford, a Ford dealership in Massachusetts. "Higher-end trims like the F-150 Platinum and King Ranch are already quite popular at our dealership, and we know that our discerning customers will be excited to have an option that takes luxury even further."

Coming exclusively in SuperCrew four-door cab configuration, the F-150 Limited features a sophisticated monochromatic exterior design, meaning everything from the bumpers to the wheel-lip molding is body color. Buyers will be able to choose from three hues, including Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Tuxedo Black Metallic and White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat. Meanwhile, those colors will be contrasted with the use of bright chrome for the three-bar grille, cargo box tie-down hooks and the single-tip exhaust.

Inside the F-150 Limited, passengers will find heated seats in both rows, as well as aluminum trim, piano-black accents and five-color ambient lighting. A standard moonroof offers a broader view of the outdoors, while a rear view camera helps drivers better navigate tight spaces when backing up or lining up with a trailer hitch. For traveling wide-open spaces, an eight-inch LCD screen serves a hub for voice-activated navigation, while a 4.2-inch screen mounted in the gauge cluster can be customized by the driver to show relevant vehicle-system information.

The 2013 Ford F-150 Limited churns out 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, all thanks to its innovative 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. Through May of this year, the powerful yet fuel-efficient EcoBoost has been featured in 43 percent of all F-150 sales. The entire F-Series lineup continues to be very popular in U.S. showrooms, moving more than 55,000 units last month for its best June sales in five years.

"Regardless of the trim they choose, buyers know that they are getting a capable, dependable pickup for years to come when they go with an F-150," added Leary. "Instead of becoming complacent with success, Ford has done an excellent job of constantly updating the F-Series lineup, whether it is with cutting-edge in-cab technology or new engines that improve both power and fuel economy."
