265th Combat Communications Squadron Change of Command Ceremony
AUGUSTA, ME (05/12/2016)(readMedia)-- Brig. Gen. Douglas A. Farnham, The Adjutant General of the Maine National Guard, invites you to join the men and women of the 265th Combat Communications Squadron at a Change of Command Ceremony, May 15, at 1:30pm at the South Portland Air National Guard Station, 50 Western Ave, South Portland, Maine.
Lt. Col. Robert Scott, Commander 265th CBCS, will relinquish command to Maj. Brian Camire.
Lieutenant Colonel Scott is a career Traditional Air Guardsman with more than 22 years of Combat Communications (CBCS) service. In 2003, he was activated in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and served as Commander, 332nd Expeditionary Communications Squadron, at Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base, Kuwait. Lt Col Scott served as the Commander, 243rd Engineering Installation Squadron from March 2007 to November 2009. In November 2009 he was appointed as Commander of the 265th CBCS.
Major Brian R. Camire enlisted in the Maine Air National Guard as a member of the 243 EIS in December 1994 and was assigned as an Antenna Specialist. In June 2004, he was commissioned as an officer and served as a Communications Installations Officer with the Squadron. As an officer in the 243rd he deployed twice to Afghanistan is support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Maj. Camire currently serves as the 265th CBCS Detachment Commander.
The 265th CBCS has played an important role in the United States, providing protection of life and property in times of natural disaster. In January 1998, the 265th responded to the requests of the Governor to participate in disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of a major ice storm. In October 2005, personnel and equipment were deployed to Louisiana to provide critical communication support in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. In Sep 2011, the 265th deployed the Joint Incident Site Communications Capability (JISCC) package to Vermont to provide critical communications for the recovery efforts associated with hurricane Irene.
Throughout its history, the unit has deployed people and equipment to other states, including: California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin; and to other countries: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Colombia, England, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Iraq, Kuwait, S. Korea, Oman, Qatar, Panama, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates. Recent deployments by members of the 265th CBCS to support the federal mission include: Kuwait 2003, Iraq 2007-08, United Arab Emirates 2007-2008, Kuwait 2010, Bahrain 2010, Iraq 2010-2011, Afghanistan 2013, and Qatar 2013.
The 265th has received numerous awards and accolades including the Air Force Outstanding Unit award six times in recognition of their superior accomplishments.
