28 Berkshire Country Day School Students Recognized for High Scores on the 2011 National Latin Exam

LENOX, MA (04/19/2011)(readMedia)-- Berkshire Country Day School, an independent school for students in preschool through ninth grade, is pleased to announce that 28 Upper School students were awarded certificates and medals for their high scores on the 2011 National Latin Exam. The NLE exam is sponsored both by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. More than 150,000 students from all 50 states and 12 foreign countries took the test in March.

For the Latin I National Exam, the following students received Gold Summa Cum Laude distinction: Emma Lezberg and Jacob Lezberg (G7-Pittsfield, MA), Francesca Lally (G7-New Lebanon, NY) and Samuel Kittredge (G7-Windsor, MA).

For the Latin I National Exam, the following students received Silver Maxima Cum Laude distinction: Fiona Drenttel (G7-Falls Village, CT), Alaina Grygier (G7-Lenox, MA), Nicholas Roszkowski (G7-Lenox, MA), and Rebecca van der Meulen (G7-New Lebanon, NY)

For the Latin I National Exam, the following students received Magna Cum Laude distinction: Samantha Slate (G8-Hudson, NY) and Elise Ghitman (G7-Ashley Falls, MA).

For the Latin I National Exam, the following students received Cum Laude distinction: Kyle Masters (G7-Pittsfield, MA) and Estevan Velez (G8-Lee, MA).

For the Latin II Exam, the following students received Gold Summa Cum Laude distinction: Isabelle Raposo (G8-Valatie, NY), Zia ParkeHarrison (G8-Great Barrington, MA) and Hallie Novak (G8-Richmond, MA).

For the Latin II Exam, the following student received Silver Maxima Cum Laude distinction: Jasper Cole-Kink (G8-West Stockbridge, MA).

For the Latin II Exam, the following students received Magna Cum Laude distinction: Sophia Hampton (G8 – Great Barrington, MA), and Nicholas Sprague (G8 – Lenox, MA).

For the Latin II Exam, the following students received Cum Laude distinction: Julia Bianchi (G8-Cheshire, MA), Ayla Hull (G8-New Lebanon, NY), Ginger Ciaburri (G8-Hinsdale, MA) and Abigail Sokolsky (G8-Great Barrington, MA).

For the Latin III Exam, the following student received Gold Summa Cum Laude distinction: Julia Reynolds (G9-Richmond, MA).

For the Latin III Exam, the following student received Silver Maxima Cum Laude distinction: Helena Bruggemann (G9 – Stockbridge, MA).

For the Latin III Exam, the following students received Magna Cum Laude distinction: William Benner (G9-Richmond, MA) and Halina Piasecki (G8-Great Barrington, MA).

For the Latin III Exam, the following student received Cum Laude distinction: Harrison Newman (G9-New Marlborough, MA).

BCD students study Latin from Grade 6 through Grade 9 with teacher Eugénie Fawcett of Tyringham, MA.
