500+ to Rally in Albany & Voice Concerns about Fracking

ALBANY, NY (01/20/2012)(readMedia)-- More than 500 concerned New Yorkers, nearly 40 organizations, several state legislators, and at least two celebrities from across the state will rally at 11a.m. on Monday, January 23rd in "The Well" of the State Capitol's Legislative Office Building and call on state leaders to safeguard public health and the environment from industrial gas drilling using high volume hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking."

Confirmed speakers include three-time Academy Award®-nominated actress Debra Winger, Josh Fox, director of the Academy Award®-nominated documentary, “Gasland,” State Senators Tony Avella and Liz Krueger; Assembly members Bob Sweeney, Barbara Lifton, Brian Kavanagh, and Steve Englebright; George Dunkel, Executive Director of American Academy of Pediatrics, New York Chapter; Adrienne Esposito, Executive Director of Citizens Campaign for the Environment; Robert Moore, Executive Director of Environmental Advocates of New York; Eric Weltman, Senior Organizer of Food and Water Watch; and David Braun, co-founder of United for Action.
