NEW YORK, NY (10/28/2010)(readMedia)-- The snapshot is based on disclosure reports filed with the New York State Board of Elections and reflects the campaign contributions of 18 corporations, associations and political action committees in the natural gas and energy sector with deep interests in drilling of the Marcellus Shale. As New York State determines whether to permit natural gas exploitation using the controversial hydraulic fracturing technique, it is important during the election season to provide information on the use of special interest campaign donations to the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

This preliminary report highlights special interest campaign contributions to the Republican and Democratic Campaign Committees, Gubernatorial races, and a few key target legislative districts. The preliminary report also reflects the movement of money from natural gas companies to political action committees in the form of large dollar donations, providing information regarding companies and organizations representing natural gas industry interests to watch.
