ADVOCATES RESPOND TO GOV. HOCHUL'S SHAM CLIMATE LAW PROPOSAL TO DO NOTHING

ALBANY, NY (03/20/2026) (readMedia)-- This morning, Politico reported Governor Hochul's proposal to renege on the climate law which would essentially allow her to do nothing at all. Her plan would allow New York to maintain the fossil fuel status quo by changing how we account for methane so it looks like New York's emissions have declined when they have stayed the same, as well as delaying any requirement to issue regulations for the law until December 31, 2030.

Advocates will respond and urge the legislature to resoundingly reject the governor's public meltdown and work with the governor to implement the climate law and actually help New Yorkers
