AM Fahy, Advocates to Discuss How NY HEAT Act Could Help Families Statewide As Leg Considers Crucial Bill

ALBANY, NY (03/13/2024) (readMedia)-- Assemblywoman Pat Fahy will join advocates for a roundtable discussion on energy affordability and healthy homes. The group will highlight how the NY HEAT Act and other policy initiatives could save families on their energy bills while kickstarting New York's transition from the outdated, expensive fracked gas system accelerating the effects of climate change and hurting our most vulnerable communities.

Assemblywoman Fahy is the prime Assembly sponsor of the NY HEAT Act, the most important climate and energy affordability bill since the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). The roundtable will be hosted at the Arbor Hill Public Library, which uses renewable geothermal energy to heat and cool the building.

The group will also highlight new data from WIN Climate and NY Renews showing nearly 1 in 5 (19%) Albany County residents could save an average of $114 each month on their energy bills if lawmakers include the NY HEAT Act (A4592-B / S2016-B) in this year's budget.
