HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (09/13/2013)(readMedia)-- At Opening Convocation on Tuesday, September 10, Aaron Salim Gilani, a junior at Hampden-Sydney College, received the President's Award for Scholarship and Character. The President's Award for Scholarship and Character is presented to a junior who has excelled in the classroom at Hampden-Sydney and who also demonstrates the quality of character that enriches the life of the campus community.
Aaron, A Patrick Henry Scholar, served two terms as a member of the Student Senate and currently serves as a Resident Advisor and as Vice-President of the Pre-Health Society. He is a member of the President's Men, the President's Leadership Council, and the social fraternity Chi Phi and was founder of last year's Bone Marrow Donor Drive. A biology and psychology major, Aaron is a graduate of Cosby High School and is the son of Salim & Meenaz Gilani of Chesterfield.
